Meet Your Presenter:
Steve Ross
Steve used to be an unknown, broke horse trainer who had good skill, but a broken business. Today, he is a world-renowned announcer and horse business lifer. Some say, you could pick a random spot on a world map, and Steve would have a profitable business in less than a year. Since his early 20s, he's flipped hundreds of horses at a profit and wants to show you how anyone can do it.
All I know is, my boss is really good at this… And I want to know what the secret is to picking the horses…
Is worth the investment to put a horse on high end feed and supplements to make him more presentable (add weight, thicken mane and tail, make coat slicker and shinier etc.) or should you market them for what they are?
How to promote and attract possible buyers ! Horses need work to turn around I think
I know it's also a people thing so is it good to get in with the crowds that your trying to sell horses to
How do you get good at selling ( the horses are easy- it’s the people that are tough)
Breeds that flip best
Where to find project horses
In addition to flipping, I would like info on how to make my weanlings/yearlings stand out above the others. Obviously great photos, but looking for other tips.
How do you know which horse to pick? Are that rescue horses or just any horses that are for sale? Do you let a vet check them completely when you buy them to make sure they're healthy?
Good minded horses that may not be performance horse ability because of arthritis or old injury. But healthy and beautiful, well cared for , otherwise and make great trail or obstacle completion prospects. Best advice how to allow them to have a future and not just out to pasture or worse.
Right at this time, I am more interested in decent quality every day riding horses that could be suitable for youth on trails and at small shows. Any thoughts of places/ways to market them?
What are the best markets for resale depending on type/discipline of horse?
Where do you look to find your flip projects?
How fast should you expect to flip your average prospect, both for a small business looking to grow quickly?
Specifically what are you looking for in prospects and more importantly what are red flags to watch out for
Finding buyers
Start up have show experience not a "trainer" have basic training in my tool box Reining, cow, ranch riding disciplines
My biggest question is how fast of a turnaround would you recommend for a very small business?
Where to start
What are the best type of horses to look for when you start flipping horses? Should you stick to a certain breed/ discipline/ etc?
